Creating the X-Ray

As an introduction to political philosophy and the important role that political philosophers, such as Jean-Jacques Rousseau and John Locke played in the development of the US, students will take the role of a political philosopher during a conference.

Each student takes a role during the political conference:

Actor/Political Philosopher: This student takes the role of the political philosopher during the conference, dresses like the philosopher, does research on the life and political ideas of the philosopher, and write a two-page autobiography (in the first person) to share with classmates.

PR Agent: This student is in charge of supporting the Political Philosopher during the Press Conference. His also in charge of doing research and coaching the Political Philosopher for the conference.

Historian: The Historian is primarily in charge of creating the X-Ray Poster, with the support of the other members of the team. The Historian is also in charge of maintaining notes during the Press Conference, and asking questions of other political philosophers.

Students had the opportunity to research and begin to get into character, by creating a character analysis of their assigned political philosophers.
